From 29 June to 3 July 2026, members of DoSPaN actively participated in the XII Polish Nanotechnology Conference – NANO2026, held in Toruń, Poland. For nearly two decades, the conference has been one of Poland’s leading scientific events dedicated to nanotechnology. Over the years, it has evolved into an international forum, bringing together researchers representing both fundamental and applied research in nanoscale materials and structures.
During this year’s edition, we delivered four oral presentations, covering a broad range of topics related to two-dimensional materials, advanced characterization techniques, and next-generation electronics:
- Single-Atom Fe Inclusions in MBE-Grown Monolayer MoS₂/Gr/Ir(111): An STM/STS Study – a presentation focused on the investigation of individually introduced iron atoms in monolayer MoS₂ and their influence on the local electronic properties, studied using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS).
- CTAB vs Signal: Why AuNPs Do Not Enhance Raman Response of PtSe₂ in Drop-Cast Systems – presentation of research on the interaction between gold nanoparticles and two-dimensional materials, highlighting the influence of surface chemistry on Raman and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) responses.
- Two-Channel Damage Model in 2D/3D Heterostructures Under High Energy Neutrons – a presentation addressing radiation-induced damage mechanisms in graphene/SiC heterostructures and a model describing the processes responsible for their enhanced radiation tolerance.
- Analysis of Chemical Phases Formed in Thin-Film Metal/PtSe₂ Interfaces – presentation of research on chemical phase formation at metal/PtSe₂ interfaces and its impact on the properties of materials intended for electronic applications.
Although our presentations addressed different research topics, they shared a common focus on advanced nanomaterial characterization techniques and the development of materials for next-generation electronics and sensing technologies. The conference also provided an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas with researchers from Poland and abroad and to discuss the latest trends and challenges in nanotechnology.
