From 31 August to 4 September 2026, we participated in the European Conference on Surface Science – ECOSS, held in Oslo and Lillestrøm, Norway. ECOSS is one of the longest-running European conferences dedicated to surface and interface science, with this year’s edition marking the 39th meeting of the series.
During the conference, we had the opportunity to present the results of our research in two oral presentations, covering two-dimensional materials, heterostructures, and advanced surface characterization techniques:
- Impact of Intense Neutron Radiation: Two-Channel Damage Model of 2D/3D Heterostructure – we presented our research on the effects of intense neutron irradiation on graphene/SiC heterostructures and a model describing two mechanisms responsible for defect formation in these structures.
- Raman Variability in CVD-Grown PtSe₂ with Drop-Cast Gold Nanoparticles – we presented our study of the variability of Raman and SERS responses in PtSe₂ layers with gold nanoparticles, focusing on the influence of their distribution, morphology, and surface chemistry on the observed signal.
Our participation in ECOSS 39 was also an opportunity to meet researchers from many European institutions and establish new scientific contacts. Discussions about our ongoing research opened up possibilities for developing collaborations in new areas, as well as for jointly preparing future research projects!
