New article! Applied Surface Science

Before the end of this year, we managed to summarize the next stage of research, conducted jointly with the Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics, Łukasiewicz Research Network, and the National Center for Nuclear Research, regarding the impact of destructive neutron radiation on epitaxial graphene on silicon carbide. Our team’s latest work has just been published in the Applied Surface Science journal, revealing the exciting capabilities of 2D structures based on epitaxial graphene. We managed to trigger the so-called effective self-healing in a system previously exposed to a destructive high-energy neutron flux! In the article, we describe the physical basis of the observed phenomenon and define the framework for its occurrence in the studied system. This is the fifth article in the thematic series by our group, devoted to the broadly understood impact of neutron radiation on matter, with a particular focus on graphene systems based on the 2D/3D interface.
